xfontselで選択可能なフォントと

fc-listで表示されるフォントが違う。

具体的には terminus フォントが xfontselではリストになかった。

（/etc/X11/xorg.conf 使わなくしたから、それが原因ぽい。）

理由は？

とりあえず、man して調べてみる。

xfontsel

DESCRIPTIONの内容。 

The xfontsel application provides a simple way to display the fonts known  to  your  X
server,  examine samples of each, and retrieve the X Logical Font Description ("XLFD")
full name for a font.

つまり、X サーバーの設定依存ってこと？

余談

man して分かったことだが、 

% xfontsel -scaled

で起動すると好きなピクセルサイズ、ポイントサイズを選べる。

fc-list

DESCRIPTIONの内容。

fc-list lists fonts and styles available on the system for applications using fontcon‐

fig. If any elements are specified, only those are printed. Otherwise family and

style are printed, unless verbose output is requested.

つまり、fontconfigで利用可能なものってこと？

ところで、fontconfigって何?

wikipediaによると、

Fontconfig（フォントコンフィグ、fontconfig）はライブラリであり、システム全体のフォント設定、

カスタマイズやアプリケーションからのアクセスを提供するように設計されている。 fontconfig

はキース・パッカードによって作られメンテナンスされている。

どうやらXは無関係な模様。

つまり…

アプリケーションがfontconfigを利用しているなら、

xfontselにいなくても、問題ないってことか。

# xorg.conf なしに FontPath を追加する方法ってないのかな？ HALではできない？
